The RM of Edenwold and the Village of Edenwold are pleased to be working with Take Action on Radon, a coalition of national health organizations, to raise awareness of the dangers of radon gas.

Radon is a type of radioactive gas that comes from the earth and is concentrated in basements and ground floors. When people breathe it in, they expose their lungs to ionizing radiation. This radiation can cause lung cancer. In fact, radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers.

To combat radon and improve awareness, Take Action on Radon launched the 100 Radon Test Kit Challenge. This free program allows residents to test their homes for radon gas using a small device.

The RM and Village residents picked up their radon test on November 25th through to December 2nd.

Radon tests need to be returned to the RM (or Village Office) between March 13th and 17 for data analysis.

Each resident will then receive a personal report and the municipality will be able to obtain an overall review for the entire area to share with all residents.
