Pest Control
Rats
The municipality, in cooperation with the District #14 Agriculture, Development and Diversification Board, engages the services of a pest control officer to conduct farm site inspections.
The municipality distributes various kinds of rat bait to the ratepayers of the municipality, at no charge; and the following conditions apply:
bait cannot be applied in residential areas; bait must be used only on properties owned or leased by the person obtaining the bait; landowners must sign an acknowledgment for the amount of bait received.
Gophers
Poisons are available through the administration office, at cost, and the above-noted conditions apply.
Dog Control
Bylaw No. 2006-3 prohibits the running-at-large of dogs within the Hamlet of Emerald Park. If a dog is found to be running-at-large the finder may deliver the animal to the Regina Humane Society, where it will be impounded for three days. If claimed within the impoundment period, the owner will be required to pay all associated costs. If a dog is not claimed, it may be adopted or euthanized.
In accordance with Bylaw No. 2003-8, no person within the subdivisions of Emerald Park, Park Meadow Estates or Meadow Ridge Estates who owns a dog or other animal shall allow the animal to disturb the comfort of other persons in the vicinity by way or barking, howling, or creating any other noise.
The municipality accepts no responsibility for dogs found or causing nuisances in any other area of the municipality. Landowners may, however, deliver stray domestic animals to the Regina Humane Society.
Skunks and Moles
The RM has a limited number of skunk and mole traps available for ratepayers use. Please contact the municipal office to arrange for pickup.
Mosquito Control
The Emerald Park Golf and Country Club is situated within this municipality and has several large water ponds and in an effort to minimize the spread of the West Nile virus and to protect the public using the course as well as the adjacent residents the RM has initiated a mosquito control program within the Emerald Park area. The control program is operated under Saskatchewan Environment and we use a larvicide called Vectobac; it is applied to standing bodies of water by a licenced applicator approximately six times throughout the season.
